ACID-FREE AND LIGNIN-FREE:

What acid-free and lignin-free mean to the paper industry: It is important to note that the traditional paper industry considers paper permanence to be the result of optimizing multiple paper properties, two of which are pH level (acidity) and lignin content. Therefore, specific information about acidity and lignin content is almost always nested within discussions and standards for paper permanence. In the paper industry, acid-free paper is often tied to longevity. For example, according to International Paper's "Pocket Pal"*, creating an acid-free paper is defined as a "process that gives paper over four times the life (200 years) of acid-sized paper (40-50 years)."
The following organizations have established the following paper specifications, standards, and test methods
• National Information Standards Organization (NISO)-(ISO 9706 and ISO 11108)
• American National Standards Industry (ANSI)-(ANSI Z39.48 - revised 1997)
• International Organization of Standardization (ISO)-(ANSI Z39.48 - revised 1997)
• Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry
• Library of Congress (Preservation Directorate: Progress on Monitoring Pub. L).

BOOK MAT:

The Book Mat technique of matting photographic prints follows the conservation technique used at the Library of Congress research library. The photographic print is treated as a work of art and mounted between two pieces of acid-free and lignin-free matboard and hinged on one side in book-fashion. The "front cover" has the opening to view the print and to protect it from touching the glazing. The photographic print is mounted to the "back cover" using T-Hinges along the top edge that can be moistened for removing and re-matting the print without damage.

MEDIUM FORMAT:

The Hasselblad FlexBody produces 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 film images and is a compact camera equipped with adjustable back for tilt and shift control. This portability enables the photographer to take studio quality on location. When tilting the back of the camera, the depth-of-field can be increased, without having to stop down the lens excessively. This valuable feature makes it an excellent choice for creative control in landscape and nature photography.

PIGMENT INKS:

Pigment inks (non dye-based) produce print quality of museum, archival grade with high stability that gives long lasting value. Special pigment-print technology yields a maximum range of tonal gradation from brightest white to darkest black

X-PAN:

Hasselblad X-Pan expands the width of the image from 36mm to 65mm and retains the image height of 24mm. The XPan lenses produce an image of high quality on 35mm film equal to a medium format camera. In other words, the Hasselblad X-Pan is a true professional, panorama camera.
